Nursing Admission 2017 JIPMER Puducherry


Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER), has invited applications for admission to the various B.Sc Courses (Undergraduate) offered at JIPMER, Puducherry for 2017.

The Courses include (i) B.Sc. Nursing and (ii) B.Sc. Allied Medical Sciences courses which include Anaesthesia Technology, Cardiac Laboratory Technology, Dialysis Technology, MLT in Blood Banking, Medical Technology-Radio-diagnosis, Neuro Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Operation Theatre& Anaesthesia Technology, Optometry, Perfusion Technology, Radiotherapy Technology and Medical Laboratory Technology.

All the courses are full time courses. B.Sc. Nursing course is of 4 years duration and students are eligible for 1 year optional stipendiary internship at JIPMER on successful completion of the course. The B.Sc. Allied Medical Sciences courses are of 3 years duration. At the end of the course, candidates are eligible for 1 year optional stipendiary internship at JIPMER, subject to approval by competent authority

There are a total of 75 Seats (8 seats for male and remaining 67 seats for females) for B.Sc. Nursing and 74 seats for B.Sc. Allied Medical Sciences. The detailed split up of seats for each allied course, the reservation of seats for various categories for the different courses etc are given in the Prospects that can be downloaded from  http://jipmer.edu.in/announcements

Seats are reserved for Unreserved, OBC NCL, SC, ST and OPH categories. Any Indian national satisfying the requirement of eligibility will be considered in these categories.

Seats are also reserved for Puducherry residents. An applicant is considered to belong to the UT of Puducherry (P-UR), if he/she satisfies at least one of the domicile criteria defined in the Prospectus. Seats are also reserved for P-OBC,P-SC ,P-ST and P-OPH. Details are given in the Prospectus.

Applicant should be an Indian National and should complete the age of 17 years by 31st December 2017 (should have been born on or before 01-01-2001). There is no upper age limit.

Applicants should have passed the qualifying examination, the Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and English or Higher Secondary Examination (+2) Vocational Stream with Medical Laboratory Assistant or any equivalent examination. The list of examinations recognized by JIPMER is given as Annexure I of the Prospectus.

Applicants who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure-I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for admission to JIPMER B.Sc. Courses.

Applicant must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination. Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / OPH need only 40% marks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology taken together in the qualifying examination. OPH candidates in general category need only 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology together in the qualifying examination. Those who are studying/have studied Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Vocational Stream will not be considered for B.Sc. (Nursing) course. Those who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March / April 2017 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply for admission.


Application can be submitted online at http://www.jipmer.edu.in, latest by 5 pm on 24.05.2017 (Wednesday). Application Fee is Rs.1,200/- for General (UR), P-UR, OBC &amp; P-OBC categories. It will be Rs.1,000/- for SC/ST and P-SC. OPH applicants are exempted from Application Fees.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Application fee can be paid using Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. Transaction Charges as applicable will have to be paid by those paying application fees. Scanned image files of the Photograph and Signature of the applicant as per the specifications prescribed, will have to be uploaded while applying online.&nbsp;</p>

Applicants of categories other than UR &amp; P-UR categories, and those belonging to OPH/P-OPH categories should upload the scanned image files of his/her caste/community certificate/disability certificate (as applicable) as per the specifications prescribed.

The process of submission of application on-line is completed only after clicking the &lsquo;submit button&rsquo; after Uploading personal details, scanned photograph and scanned signature &amp; scanned community /OPH certificate (if applicable). Applicants may download a copy of their filled in application which contains Application No., Personal details, scanned photograph, scanned signature and the payment details.&nbsp;</p>

In case the candidate has found an error of entry committed by him/her in the application, a new application has to be submitted along with the prescribed fee. The earlier application will automatically stand cancelled.

Selection to all the Programme will be based on the common Online Computer Based Test (CBT) (Entrance Examination), to be held in a single shift from 10 am to 11.30 am on 25th June, 2017 (Sunday). The venue, time and shift of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card. No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid &lsquo;Admit Card&rsquo; issued by the Institute and a proof of their identification.

The examination shall be conducted in English medium only. The Entrance Examination will have 100 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the questions will be asked from Physics (20 questions), Chemistry (20), Biology (40), English Language and Comprehension (10) and Logical &amp; Quantitative Reasoning (10).

The questions for JIPMER B.Sc Course Entrance Examination 2017 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board Hr. Sec. and CBSE for XI &amp; XII Standards.

Candidates may go through the Mock Test for computer based Test (online examination), the link for which is available on JIPMER Website.

The examination will be held at Chennai, Kolkatta, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry, Trivandrum and Vijayawada. An applicant can opt only for three exam cities while applying. The allotment of Exam City would be as per the order of preference clicked by applicant during on-line registration on a first-cum-first served basis.

Hall Tickets for the Entrance Examination shall be available for download from 10 am on 4.06.2017 (Wednesday).

Merit List is expected to be published on or before 3rd July 2017.

The first round of counselling will be on 13th July 2017 (B.Sc Nursing) and 14th July 2017 (B.Sc (AMS)).

The tentative dates of second Counselling is 8th August 2017 and that of third, 28th August, 2017.
The academic fee per annum for all courses is Rs.1200/-. The total amount to be paid at the time of admission will be Rs.9010/- for BSc Nursing course and Rs. 7760/- for BSC (AMC).
